Isle of Lewis
The Isle of Lewis, or Eilean Leòdhais in the traditional language of Gaelic, offers a different experience for each season of the year.
In winter, short walks in the brisk elements are rewarded with the traditional, and glorious! smell of peat burning in the air, with many crofters still opting for this age old type of fuel to battle the elements.
The spring and summer bring a welcome break from the harsher weather elements and offer an oppurtunity to explore the the island's diverse habitats which are home to flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals.
Whatever the season, the Isle of Lewis welcomes you to an individual experience. As the Gaels say 'ceud mile failte' - a hundred thousands welcomes. There's one waiting for you!
